
The playoff picture became clear after three games brought the regular season to an end last weekend. Westlock Warriors secured 4th place and home ice advantage in the first round with an inspired 4-2 road win over the Lacombe Generals. The Devon Barons grabbed the 6th and final playoff position with a convincing home ice win over Red Deer Rustlers 7-3. And after an inspiring late season run. the Bonnyville Pontiacs were eliminated from the playoff picture by virtue of their 10-7 loss to hometown Camrose Crush.
The President's Cup winning Lacombe Generals and 2nd place finishers Camrose Crush will now sit for 2 weeks awaiting the winners from the quarter final round which features 3rd place Morinville Kings taking on 6th place Devon Barons in one series, while 4th place Westlock Warriors will battle it out with 5th place Red Deer Rustlers. Both of these quarterfinal series are a best of 5.
The players of the week for last weekend are:
RJ Reed (CC) - RJ scored 1-4-5 to help propel the Crush to their win over visiting Bonnyville.
Kona Jackson (BP) - Kona lead the way offensively for the Pontiacs with 3-2-5.
Dayton Heino (DB) - Dayton scored 1-2-3 to help the Barons to their hometown win over Red Deer.

Games 1 and 2 of the Morinville/Devon series go on Wednesday, Feb 1st and Saturday, Feb 4th in Morinville. Games 3 and 4 are scheduled for Devon on Sunday, Feb 5th and Saturday, Feb 11th (if necessary). Game 5 is scheduled for Morinville on Sunday, Feb 12th (if necessary). Morinville took both games from Devon during the regular season, winning 3-1 in Devon and then winning 6-5 in OT in Morinville.
Game 1 of the Westlock/Red Deer series goes on Saturday, Feb 4th in Westlock, game 2 goes Sunday, Feb 5th in Penhold. Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb 8th in Westlock, game 4 is Saturday, Feb 11th in Penhold (if necessary) and game 5 is Sunday, Feb 12th in Westlock (if necessary). Red Deer won both games versus Westlock during the regular season, winning 6-3 in Westlock and 4-2 in Penhold.
