Originally, the NCHL's playoff championship trophy was simply known as the NCHL championship trophy with the winning teams receiving the trophy as well as a championship banner. In 2003, the league honoured their long time founder and President, George Vanberg, by naming it's playoff championship trophy in his name. It has been known as the Vanberg Cup since that time.
In 2020, the NCHL announced that the President's Cup would be awarded to the team who had the most points during the regular season. The regular season winner now wins this trophy as well as a President's Cup banner.
