Lacombe Generals Win Alberta Senior AA Provincial Championship
Monday, April 11, 2022 - Submitted by NCHL

The NCHL was well represented at last weekend's Hockey Alberta Senior AA Provincial tournament in Fort Saskatchewan.  The NCHL champion Camrose Crush, NCHL runner's up Lacombe Generals, and the host team from the NCHL, the Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs were joined by the Saskalta Alberta Champs Wainwright Rustlers.  The North Peace Hockey League did not operate this season so they did not have representation, as well as the Ranchland Hockey League who were suspended indefinitely by Hockey Alberta, which cost the Nanton Palominos a trip to the tournament.

Congratulations to the Lacombe Generals who defeated the Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs 3-2 in overtime in the championship game.  To many, Fort Saskatchewan were the surprise of the weekend as they went undefeated during the round robin portion.  It became obvious that they were the freshest team after having had to wait since they were eliminated by Red Deer in the NCHL quarterfinals .

Hats off to Scott Chartrand and his crew for running a great tournament.

it was great to see the rival teams get together for a picture after some of the games
