Players of the Week Oct 16th
Tuesday, October 19, 2021

After a quiet 3 game weekend, the league ramps up with 5 games this coming weekend.  The battle of the last 2 undefeated teams goes in Morinville on Saturday as the Kings host Lacombe.  In other games, Camrose travels to Westlock to take on the Warriors, Fort Saskatchewan heads south to take on Red Deer on Saturday, then heads to Lacombe to take on the Generals on Sunday, while Bonnyville has their home opener on Sunday when Devon heads east.

Players of the Week

1.  Tyler Berkholtz - Red Deer Rustlers

It's not often that the NCHL sees a player rack up 7 points in a game.  The Rustler"s Tyler Berkholtz did just that picking up 5 goals and 2 assists as Red Deer dumped the visiting Bonnyville Pontiacs 9-3 to skate away with this week's top choice.  Over the last few years, 7 point games have happened on a few occasions,

Kyle Harris - Morinville - 3-4-7 vs Bonnyville in October 2019

Mikey Mantello - Morinville - 7-0-7 vs Blackfalds October 2018.

Dakota Mason of Bonnyville had 8 points (5-3-8) vs the Slave Lake Winterhawks back in October of 2016.

2.  Eric Szudor - Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs

Szudor bounced back from a dreadful outing vs Morinville a couple of weeks ago to propel the Chiefs to a 1-0 win over visiting Westlock, stopping all 41 shots sent his way.  Szudor is the NCHL's reigning 1st team All-star Goaltender from 2019-20.

3.  MacKenzie Engle - Lacombe Generals

Engle backstopped the Generals to a road win over previously unbeaten Camrose by stopping 53 of 54 shots.  Engle is currently boasting a 2.00 GAA with a .952 save percentage.

Congratulations to this week's choices!
