The North Central Hockey League's Executive was on hand in Westlock for Sunday afternoon's game #2 playoff series between the hometown Warriors and the visiting Lacombe Generals.
Prior to the game, League President Jerry Muise and Vice President Sam Maupin presented awards to the following Warrior's players:
Rod Kaliel
Rod Kaliel and Jerry Muise
Rod was recognized for having played 160 regular season games with the Warriors over 16 seasons. Rod started his senior hockey career with the Westlock Wolfpack when they first entered the NCHL in 1998 and played 3 seasons before the Wolfpack moved to the Chinook Hockey League. The Wolfpack returned to the NCHL for one season in 2005 before folding after that season. He then played for the Legal Vipers for 5 seasons until the Warriors were accepted into the NCHL in 2013-14, winning the Vanberg Cup in 2014-15. The last few seasons have seen Rod move into coaching and is now a player/assistant coach of the Warriors.
Mike Ivey
Mike Ivey and Jerry Muise
Mike Ivey was recognized for his playing over 130 games over 8 years with the Warriors. Mike is the Warrior's team manager as well as head coach and captain. Mike is the NCHL's active leading scorer and has led the Warrior's in scoring for 5 of his 8 seasons, as well as winning the Vanberg Cup in 2014-15.
Nathan Brown
Nathan Brown and Jerry Muise
Nathan Brown was recognized for playing over 100 games over 7 years in the NCHL. Nathan joined the Warriors in 2014-15 after playing 4 seasons of NCAA lll with Northland's College. The Warriors won the Vanberg Cup that season and Nathan was voted to the NCHL's second all star team. Nathan is currently ranked 10th among active scoring leaders in the NCHL.
