The NCHL's 72 game regular season came to an end this past weekend and the playoff match-ups became clear. Red Deer and Morinville both won their games and ended up in a tie, with the Kings getting the tie breaker to claim 3rd place while the Rustlers claimed 4th, so both teams get home ice advantage in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
The playoff pairings are:
Bonnyville (#8) vs Lacombe (#1)
Devon (#7) vs Camrose (#2)
Westlock (#6) vs Morinville (#3)
Fort Saskatchewan (#5) vs Red Deer (#4)
The playoffs kick off next weekend with all teams seeing action. All series are a best of 5.
Congratulations are in order to Red Deer's Tyler Berkholtz who is this season's NCHL Scoring Champ.
The NCHL will be announcing this season's All Star teams later this week, with the League's annual award winners to follow.
The NCHL's Vanberg Cup champion will advance to April's Alberta Senior AA Provincial Championship in Fort Saskatchewan. Should Fort Saskatchewan become the Vanberg Cup champs, the other team in the finals will qualify as the NCHL rep.
