   North Central Hockey League:
GENERALS EARN THEIR FIRST PRESIDENT’S CUP

Congratulations are in order to the Lacombe Generals as they have captured their first President's Cup as the NCHL's regular season top team overall.  The Generals nailed down the award with two road wins over the weekend - 5-2 over Westlock on Saturday, and 8-4 over Bonnyville on Sunday.

While the award is the first for the Generals, a previous version of the franchise won the award in the 2017-18 season while they were the Eckville Eagles.  That team went on to the finals where they were defeated by the 2nd place Daysland Northstars.   Today, only 6 members of that 2017-18 team are still with the club.

The Generals will have home ice advantage throughout the playoffs.  The Camrose Crush locked down second place with their road win in Morinville, while at the other end of the standings, we know that Devon and Bonnyville are destined for 7th and 8th place respectively.  The final positioning will come down to games this weekend as the regular season wraps up.  Westlock could pull into a 5th place tie with Fort Saskatchewan with a win in Camrose.  Third place is up for grabs as Red Deer and Morinville are currently deadlocked.
